Resource Project Team
The Resource Team is responsible for developing and maintaining a database of community-based resources that will be utilized by physicians, medical students and PHA caseworkers to connect patients to primarily free and low-cost social services. Members will have the opportunity to participate in various sub-projects within the team, including community based clinics for the unhoused, cultural awareness initiatives, and resource topic presentations. The team also aims to update resources on the PHA MyMaps platform in order to streamline the process of providing personalized resources for patients. Additionally, members may submit ideas and spearhead their own projects within the team. As a part of Resource, individuals have the chance to create and distribute resources directly to staff and patients within the healthcare system. The team seeks members who have a strong work ethic, are detail-oriented, and passionate about researching the social determinants of health within a diverse community.
Recent Initiatives
High School Outreach
During the 2023-2024 school year, the Resource Team was able to give in-person and virtual presentations on nutrition/exercise and health literacy at high schools in Los Angeles. We hope to continue with community outreach and interact with populations of different backgrounds.
Vituity Cares Clinic Partnership
Once a month, our members partner with Vituity Cares to connect the unhoused population on Skid Row to local resources such as housing, employment facilities, showers, and food pantries.
